Practice Area Equal Pay Act

Female employees are often paid less than their male counterparts for performing the same work. Federal and local laws prohibit employers from paying equally qualified female employees unequal wages.  Employers who engage in this conduct face stiff penalties.

It is illegal for an employer to terminate or mistreat an employee for making complaints about disparate wages. The Equal Pay Act is designed to permit female employees to complain about disparate wages without fear of retaliation.

An employer that retaliates against an employee for making complaints about disparate wages faces the same damages/penalties that it would face for discrimination.
